A new blog
I have not been blogging much lately. You would think it is not such a big deal to
sit down and just write something, anything, every single day. And really, it should not be a big deal. But just to think of an idea is hard
sometimes. I don’t generally write about
my life very much, which is actually contrary to when I first started blogging.
I first started writing blogs while at CDAC. The main reason was to keep everyone up to
date on what was happening. I would
generally talk about my day, not to promote myself but to be the eyes and ears
of everyone across the state as to what was happening on a state level. It is easy to be so focused on your job that
you lose track of being part of a greater whole. Those blogs were pretty easy to write as I
just talked about what I did that day.
At Jeffco I changed a little.
Most of my days there were so mundane that there was nothing much to write
about. I tried to restrict most of my
writing to topics connected to prosecution.
The blogs became much more irregular then. Often that was because I was so busy I never
found the time, but mostly it was a reflection that I just did not have a lot
to say.
After I left Jeffco I was free to blog about whatever I wanted,
the problem was I had no idea what to write about most of the time. I could not write about myself because
writing the blog was all I did every day. (Obviously I have solved the problem today by
writing about blogging itself but I can only do that once. However, I am
desperate, so I resorted to this cheap ploy.)
Lots of times I use the newspaper or tv news to generate ideas, but many
days ideas just never come.
Throughout it all I have attempted from time to time to write
something funny. Of course, these are
the most popular blogs, but they are also the most difficult to write. Try to be funny on demand. It is not easy, which, I suppose why stand up
comedians can make so much money. I don’t
like to just write humorous blogs all the time because I think that is a cop
out. I should have something more
substantial to write about than what I would buy if I won the lottery. And with the demise of Rick Santorum I lost
the chance to both write something humorous and political at the same
time.
I do promise to write more often. I will try to get something down every day,
but on days I go to New York it can be difficult to find the time. I appreciate all of you (both of you?) who
read these things. If you have any ideas
for blogs let me know. I am thinking of
switching to wordpress because I think that is a better site, but I have to
spend some time on using it.
I am back in Stamford now, back from vacation and without
excuse for not blogging. I will try to be more diligent.
